Decision making

Managing mixed farming (or any farming system) is complex.  There are competing interests, not only in the management and allocation of resources for the production of crops, fodder and livestock, but the added aspects of social enjoyment and environmental sustainability.
The Grain and Graze program explored the ‘triple bottom line’ aspects of decision making, examining issues such as managing risk and uncertainty, complexity, enjoyment from farming, the importance of diversity and the strategic challenge of trying to get the balance right.
